Global supply chain and logistics consultancy, SCALA, has announced its 21st annual supply chain debate. This year’s debate is in association with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and is set to focus on the topic: 'AI in the supply chain- where will it have the greatest impact?’.
As artificial intelligence (AI) technology rises in prominence in the business world and continues to take industry by storm, SCALA is inviting senior supply and logistics professionals to consider the real end-to-end impact that such technologies could have on future operations – and people – within the sector.
Following last year’s success, the debate is returning to the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centre, Coventry, on 6 June 2024.
Guests will hear from a diverse panel of expert industry speakers and engage in informative discussions. In addition to SCALA experts, industry leaders sharing thoughts throughout the day will include Meinir Childs, director of supply chain at Sainsbury’s; Mike Bernon, visiting fellow from Cranfield University; David Walker, logistics transformation project manager at Nestle; and Lesley O’Brien OBE, managing director at Freightlink Europe.
Chris Clowes, senior consultant at SCALA, commented: “With ChatGPT taking businesses by storm, a plethora of new AI solutions taking to the market last year, and the supply chain and logistics sector taking note, the question in everyone’s minds is: what does this mean for us?
“We want to open the floor to individuals at the forefront of industry thinking, seeking their perspectives on if and where AI will truly have an impact – and to what scale. Whether you see it as the key driver of supply chain success in the next 10 years, or simply the latest business trend, we’re inviting professionals from across the industry to get involved in what is set to be an engaging and lively debate.”
Guests are invited to join the SCALA team for pre-event networking and refreshments from 10 am, with the debate commencing at 11 am. A light buffet lunch will follow, with the event closing at 2 pm.
