Food and drink IT specialist CSB-System has introduced a series of apps to enable customers to easily access their system at any time and from anywhere via smartphone, tablet or PC. This enables them to check the latest reports, approve process steps and carry out other tasks remotely or while on the move – which increases efficiency and convenience.

Apps for quality, workflow, maintenance and repair, and returns have already been developed, with more to follow. All feature customisable web user interfaces which are fully integrated with each customer’s CSB ERP system via the CSB-Web Solutions module. The apps can be tailored to individual requirements, are available in different languages, and access rights can be defined for different users.

The CSB Quality App provides a fast and easy procedure for calling up and entering test results via predefined spot check criteria. It enables flexible and accurate data collection, which can be both quantitative and qualitative. This helps companies to unify their control processes for any type of spot checks on the shop floor.

The Workflow App creates workflows to plan, control, monitor and optimise complex work processes such as approving new suppliers, where several departments may need to run due diligence checks, input information and give their approval. Information and documents can be accessed and managed across a wide range of operations including QA checks, circulations, applications for leave, audit support, integration of field service and supplies, and the setup and maintenance of master data. This ensures greater transparency of all operations to support lean and faster business processes.

Costly downtime can be avoided or minimised through the CSB Maintenance App. This covers inspection, preventive maintenance and repair across all areas of operation, including site and vehicle fleet management, machines, components, building equipment and appliances. Maintenance technicians or engineers can use their mobile devices to support scheduled maintenance orders or attend break-downs – with the possibility to enter text notes and take pictures of parts or machines on the shop floor, which can be stored against the maintenance ticket or machine ID.

Information, such as performance data, downtime reports and cost summaries, is also available at the press of a button, enabling a fast response to any problems. Scheduled maintenance is triggered automatically, new materials can be planned in line with current requirements, and staff allocation can be effectively managed.

The REUS Returns Entry app allows the fast and easy return of reusable packaging such as crates or pallets, enabling the process to be controlled and monitored remotely. It provides a paperless handling solution with fast and easy customer and item selection. The system is able to check that items are able to be collected before progressing the collection process. Once the collection has been entered and accepted, a confirmation email is automatically sent to the customer.

“With our apps, we are providing customers with greater flexibility which enables them to be more efficient,” commented Mathew Simpson of CSB-System.

“The ability to access important information and approve tasks or decisions at any time and while on the move will help to further integrate operations and optimise processes to help businesses maximise their efficiency and profitability.”
