Datalogic's vision for the future of the checkout will be a key talking point on the stand at this year's Retail Business Technology Expo, after its latest innovation is shortlisted for the show's Innovation Trail & Awards.

"After winning the innovation award in 2016 for our Magellan 9800i scanner, it's a privilege to be shortlisted again in 2018 for an innovation that addresses the challenges of item detection at self-service checkouts," said Jamie Dickinson, retail sales director UK&I at Datalogic. "Despite widespread installation of kiosks across the UK, we know that there is still room to improve the customer experience at the self-service checkout. Using the latest imaging technology and data capture techniques, our vision is that customers will simply be able to place items on a specially designed counter. Those items will then be automatically identified, and a total price will be calculated without any further interaction needed from the customer, until they come to make a payment."

Other technologies that could play a key role in the future of the checkout will also feature on this year's stand, including the Joya Touch product family which is already being used by one Datalogic customer to fully automate the checkout process. By arming every customer that enters the store with a Joya Touch device, Danish retailer Inco, can move staff away from the checkout and empower them to deliver an enhanced customer experience.

Visitors at RBTE can also expect access to demonstration units of popular Datalogic mobile computing and scanning devices for retail including the DL-Axist, Skorpio X4, Magellan 9800i, Gryphon and Heron. Datalogic's retail product and sales team will also be available throughout the show to provide expert advise and support.

Dickinson concludes, "RBTE provides a unique platform to showcase our technology, which is designed to help retailers improve the shopping experience while driving operational efficiencies across multi-channel supply chains. The show always provides a great forum to build relationships and we are looking forward to having some great conversations with existing and potential new customers again this year."

You can visit Datalogic on stand C140, J164 at RBTE taking place between 2nd and 3rd May 2018 at London Olympia.
