The 2nd BME Global Pharma Supply Chain Congress of the Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) at the Marriott Hotel in Frankfurt takes place from 20 to 23 March 2017. Motto of this international event is "Embracing a new supply chain culture to drive the patient-centric agenda".

"Europe's leading Network-Forum for pharma & healthcare supply chain is not only aimed at top decision makers from this sector and their management teams but also their customers as well as international Funding Organisations and NGOs in the area of healthcare. For our second event, after the successful premiere of the congress in 2016, we expect around 400 international top-level Supply Chain Managers from the sectors of pharmacy, medical technology, biotechnology and generic products ", says Dr. Christoph Feldmann, Chief Executive Officer of BME.

Market coverage of the pharmaceutical industry has, compared to the first congress, continued to increase and already reached 75 percent of the global pharmaceutical market today. Practically all leading pharma companies such as Baxter, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Lilly, Merck, MSD, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer and UCB attended the first congress; and in March more pharmaceutical heavyweights such as Sanofi, Teva and Grünenthal will join. In addition top-level Supply Chain Managers of global players such as Braun Melsungen and Roche Diagnostics will be present with a topical focus dedicated to them.

On top of that, high-profile representatives of Governmental Organisations as well as public and private Funding Organisations and NGOs have once again announced their participation. The WHO, Bill Gates Foundation, Medeor and Médecins Sans Frontières, for example, will be present.

The 2nd Global Pharma Supply Chain Congress, like its successful predecessor in February of 2016, will offer special topics. With "PATIENT CENTRICITY" a holistic view, with the patient at its centre, is taken on the entire end-to-end value-added chain. "GLOBAL HEALTH" emphasises the central role of the Supply Chain as the key function for worldwide access of patients to premium medical care.

Feldmann: "As a non-profit association BME would like to offer a professional platform for global pharma & healthcare supply-chain topics and contribute to the noticeable improvement of patient care in developing countries and crisis areas through bringing together the important players in this sector. In doing so, we are supported by a Steering Team that consists of 22 top-level Supply Chain Managers of globally leading pharma & healthcare companies.

Furthermore, there are new programme highlights on the 2nd Global Pharma Supply Chain Congress such as the presentation of the first "BME Supply Chain Excellence Awards" at the formal Networking Dinner at Eberbach Abbey, interesting field trips to Amazon in Koblenz, Frankfurt Airport and the Sanofi European Distribution Centre in Frankfurt. Supporting the congress for the first time, representing the logistics sector, is United Parcel Service (UPS) and once again Camelot Management Consultants.
