International technology company, ByBox, is unveiling its latest solution to tackling demanding supply-chains, ByBox Metro.

This solution allows businesses in large, metropolitan cities to better manage inventory, enabling them to operate more cost and time efficiently. Launching initially in London, ByBox Metro will give field engineers access to 25 Smart Boxes located within the congestion zone, providing an easily accessible and secure location for engineers to retrieve SLA critical parts before 7am as well as making returns.

ByBox Metro offers full visibility of the supply chain, enabling businesses to track and trace deliveries and returns to Smart Boxes. The Smart Box locations have been strategically placed around the capital, enabling engineers to walk or drive to collect a part eliminating high parking charges when retrieving stock. The close proximity of Smart Boxes also allow engineers to spend less time in the depot and more time in the city, enabling them to fit more jobs into their day.

ByBox Metro minimises the risk of failed deliveries and also provides the added advantage of reduced stock loss. Typically customers deliver to the end customer site, which is often a reception desk for multiple businesses. As a result when the customers engineer arrives parts can be hard to locate resulting in wasted time or even worse an expensive same day.

The service guarantees delivery of parts to Smart Boxes before 7am, enabling engineers to retrieve stock at their earliest convenience, reducing the amount of emergency same-day deliveries ordered to busy city workplaces. Engineers are notified when parts have been delivered, thereby increasing productivity by reducing the time spent on wasted journeys to make a collection. The solution also offers an improved returns loop, with parts for return or repair collected daily and delivered back to the Smart Box within 48 hours. With Metro there is no need to book a collection for the return part, as engineers simply place the item for return back in the Smart Box, thereby reducing administrative costs.

Stuart Miller, CEO and co-founder of ByBox, comments: "One of the most frequent requests we get from companies in busy city centres, is for help in tackling the stock loss caused by inefficiencies in their current supply chains. With many offices now banning on-site deliveries there is a huge logistical issue for engineers trying to track down the critical parts they need to complete a job. We developed ByBox Metro so that businesses and field engineers could operate more efficiently, ultimately enhancing service levels to the end customer."
