XPO Logistics, a top ten global provider of supply chain solutions, has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK (NMUK) at its annual Operational Awards for the third consecutive year. The distinction recognises XPO Logistics' commitment to excellence as a logistics operator for NMUK's Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom during 2015.

XPO Logistics provides transportation services to Nissan, including the collection of automotive parts from Nissan suppliers in Spain and Portugal, consolidation at its platform in Bilbao, and onward distribution to Nissan's Sunderland plant via an intermodal solution that combines sea and land transportation.

José Luis Arenas, XPO Logistics managing director of transport solutions for Spain, Portugal and Morocco, said, "We are honored to receive this award from Nissan, an important customer and a company with a global reputation for excellence. We have worked closely with Nissan for 20 years, providing efficient logistics solutions that help them to achieve their targets."

Michael Simpson, production control director at NMUK's Sunderland plant, noted, "A reliable supply chain is essential in order to fulfil our daily production commitments. The XPO Logistics team has demonstrated a flexible attitude that, together with their outstanding effort, has enabled us to complete another successful year of production."

XPO Logistics has more than 35 years' experience in the automotive sector and related industries. The company provides tailored, end-to-end solutions that include inbound shipments or supplies to factories, logistics and cross-docking, the distribution of aftermarket spare parts, control tower / 4PL solutions and intermodal solutions, and has the largest owned fleet in Europe.
