Fresh food supply chain software specialist Linkfresh has appointed a new CEO to head up its UK and Global operations.

Andy Makeham brings vast experience to the Cambridge-headquartered firm having previously spent 13 years as founder and CEO of K3 Business Technology Group plc where he saw sales grow to £70 million with an operating profit of £10m.

Over the course of his 40-year career, Andy also founded and developed several successful software businesses including Sheffield Micro and BEC Group. He has direct experience of working with the fresh food market from his time as CEO of K3.

In addition to these business ventures, Andy has occupied a number of senior positions at IT sector companies including Advanced Computer Software Group plc and Kewill Systems plc.

Speaking about his new role at Linkfresh, Andy said: "Linkfresh is a great company with a great product, staff and customers. I have competed with them in the past, and they were always tough to beat, so when the CEO opportunity arose, I didn't have to think twice".

"With the fresh food market expanding rapidly, and the UK economy recovering, I am looking forward to spearheading Linkfresh's UK and global business, working with our fresh food customers to deliver the innovative and relevant software that is increasingly essential as the food industry raises the bar on traceability and transparency".

Linkfresh has recently won the Frost and Sullivan Technology Leadership Award (2016) for innovative fresh food solutions, and the company is expanding and recruiting both in the UK and the USA.
