At this year's RBTE retail and hospitality technology specialist, Lolly, and its partner, Linx, is launching a queue-busting mobile EPoS (MPoS) solution based on the Linx Windows-based ruggedised tablet.

Aimed at independent retailers, it provides enterprise-level EPoS technology at an entry-level price point for SMEs. The new product will allow retailers and their staff to:

  • take orders, payments or issue refunds to customers anywhere on the shop floor,
  • demonstrate, cross- and up-sell products by showing videos of additional products or optional features, and
  • speed up transactions by integrating EPoS with a card machine.

Peter Moore, CEO of Lolly, said: "We are very excited to be debuting this new product at RBTE, and believe it will be met with a great deal of interest - especially at the competitive price we're launching it at. In effect, it will be a 'game changer', enabling smaller, independent retailers to operate on a more level playing field.

"We want to bridge the gap between the smart phone and counter top point of sale software. The tablet will allow staff to move around the store or pop-up shop, engage directly with customers and take payments or process returns, cutting down on waiting times and making the in-store experience more personal. The ruggedised nature of the tablet protects it from drops and spills - ensuring retailers don't have to invest in another piece of hardware."

Nicolo Lettieri, Linx product manager (Exertis), added: "We see a high potential for projects centred around bringing tablets into different retail environments with the aim of improving the customer experience and the process of ordering and pay. This trend used to be hindered by overly expensive tablets and the lack of simple ready-to-use mobile payment solutions. Our partnership with Lolly will fill this gap by providing a high-technology solution at an affordable price, in line with Linx tradition, supported by a well-designed Epos software, ready to use straight out of the box. This winning combination provides retailers with a viable and budget-friendly option to modernise and simplify their business."

At the beginning of 2016, Consolis re-branded, changing its name to 'Lolly'. The decision reflected the company's new strategy to extend its B2B EPoS and payment technology offerings to include products and services aimed at the consumer market, in line with growing market demands.
