Honeywell S&PS has unveiled its new Honeywell Solaris 7980g scanner, a retail scanner for the mobile payments world.

The latest addition to the company's line-up of warehouse and distribution centre-focused solutions is available in the UK.

With Honeywell's new scanner, the Solaris 7980g, retailers can prepare for the next generation of payment. The way we are paying for goods is changing. In the near future, our mobile phones will replace both the credit cards and the loyalty cards. With the launch of mobile payment offerings like Apple Pay and Google Wallet, the consumer can not only pay for goods with a simple tap, but at the same time receive earn loyalty points, discounts and promotions directly to their device. Large high street chains like Starbucks and McDonalds have already made this technology a reality.

Honeywell Solaris 7980g scanner still reads traditional 'flat' barcodes that you find printed on paper (1D barcodes) but at the press of a button, it will read the new 2D barcodes that are displayed by electronic devices. Without doubt, the retail market today still relies on flat, 1D barcodes. But in the very near future, things are going to change. So it's important to get ready before it's too late.

Honeywell Solaris 7980g scanner has the strongest imaging technology on the market, and is able to read barcodes of any colour from any angle. Using a newly-developed white LED light, the days of being blinded by a bright red light from your scanner are over. Powered directly by USB, installation is also quick and easy.
