Supply chain planning firm Barloworld Supply Chain Software (SCS) has announced a new partnership with the Bern-based transport firm Xplanis as part of a new drive to grow its international partner network.

Xplanis, which provides network design and modelling for transportation firms and other large networks, will use Barloworld SCS CAST supply chain network modelling software to solve logistical challenges relating to site optimisation, network configuration, multimodal transport and utilisation of vehicles. The agreement is expected to generate decisive competitive advantage for Xplanis' customers, while growing the use of Barloworld SCS CAST in the Swiss, Austrian and German markets.

"Barloworld SCS CAST software broadens the network design capability Xplanis offers to our logistics customers," said Xplanis Senior Consultant, Peter Laux. "The fact that it has extended the reach of the solution opens the door to increased supply chain management optimisation, generating competitive advantage for clients."

The announcement follows the appointment of Strategic Partner Manager Paul Lynes-Doherty, who joined Barloworld SCS in October with the objective of extending the firm's global footprint. He said: "As this new agreement with Xplanis demonstrates, there is a huge opportunity for new and existing partners to use CAST as a strategic and tactical tool to evolve their business model and provide the best possible supply chain strategy for clients."
