In today's global market place, companies face a variety of export control regulations aimed at facilitating legitimate global trade and combat terrorism. Businesses need to ensure they are trading legally, ethically and responsibly - and avoid the fines, imprisonment and trading penalties that export control violations can result in. Today, compliance is also crucial to uphold business reputations and a competitive edge in challenging markets while increasing overall profitability and efficiency.

Businesses with effective compliance programmes embrace export control obligations and implement processes and patterns that are consistently followed until they become a habit. Compliance starts with awareness, in all relevant departments and teams, and throughout supply chains. Only then can habits be analysed, further developing the good, removing the bad and preparing for continuous improvement.

"7 Habits of Highly Effective Compliance Programmes" is AEB's 5th annual compliance conference in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CILT(UK). It's the essential compliance event to stay up to date on export control regulations, challenges, trends and best practices - tailored for global trade and supply chain professionals and executives from trading and manufacturing businesses.

This year's conference will focus on the different angles of compliance awareness and where repeated processes or behaviours have been observed throughout global supply chains. It will provide insights from the perspective of government bodies, auditing firms, global freight forwarders, consultancies and of course directly from manufactures and traders.

The programme includes presentations from thought leaders, networking opportunities, expert discussions and the opportunity to identify solutions to challenges. An exciting addition to this year's event will be a panel discussion featuring a range of experts from trade and industry, who will answer questions from the audience, engage in topical debates and provide insights from their individual perspectives.

The following speakers have been confirmed:

  • Charles Barber, Director Trade Compliance, Kuehne + Nagel Ltd
  • Tony Croughan, Strategic Operations and Planning, BAE Systems
  • Dave Macready, Import/Export Compliance Manager, Fujitsu Services Ltd
  • David Whitehouse, Director Export Control, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
  • Sandra Strong, Managing Partner, Strong & Herd LLP
  • Darren Travers, Account Manager, AEB (International) Ltd.
  • Export Control Organisation – speaker name to follow

After the official programme, delegates are invited to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the AEB and CILT(UK) annual compliance conference during an informal drinks reception, where they can engage in further networking opportunities with industry peers and compliance experts.

Coffee breaks and a complimentary lunch will be provided throughout the course of the day. Attendance is free for CILT members. Non-members will be charged a £20 administration fee. Bookings can be made via the CILT(UK) membership services, tel: +44 (0)1536 740 104 or by sending an email to membership@ciltuk.org.uk, mentioning CILT(UK) event code COR0315, or online here
