Broner Metals Solutions, provider of integrated MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), Supply Chain and Scheduling solutions for metals, has announced its newly integrated Casting and Hot Mill scheduling solutions are now live in production at Compania Siderurgica Nacional's (CSN) Volta Redonda steel making site to enable the company to achieve significant inventory reductions.
CSN has a long standing Business relationship with Broner dating back to Broner's initial solution implementation in 2001. The objective of this project was to combine Broner's solutions to work together to enable CSN's multiple Casters, Hot Mill's and steel making processes to generate synchronised schedules, consider the entire order book and provide an opportunity to increase production targets. The aim was to achieve 40% hot connect dependent upon manufacturing conditions and the content of the order book.
The synchronisation between the Caster Scheduler and the Hotmill Scheduler enables the solution to support and continue the current CSN practice of achieving these average temperatures, and provide the opportunity to increase it.
The following benefits are expected as a result of this project implementation:
- Improved Hot Charge on the Hot Strip Mill
- Increased Tundish Utilisation
- Reduction of stock on the slab yard.
