Cordys, the BPMS and PaaS software vendor, has announced that Excel Software, the independent software vendor (ISV) for the pharmaceutical industry, has built its 'Medico Online' sales distribution and business intelligence solution on the Cordys platform. Medico Online is already successfully being used by major pharmaceutical companies including Boehringer Ingelheim and Ind-Swift to automate and optimise processes across the supply network.

Faced with an aging architecture, low developer productivity, poor scalability and costly customizations, Excel Software wanted to shift to a centrally controlled and automated online platform that offered a robust and multi-tenant architecture. Using the Cordys Enterprise Cloud Platform, Excel built a new cloud based solution - Medico Online - which is one of the first enterprise grade transaction handling systems that can integrate seamlessly with SAP, Microsoft Navision and other ERP applications to provide an end-to-end solution.

The Cordys platform enabled Excel Software to build a solution that is available both on-premise and in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) mode. Offered in SaaS mode, Medico Online is managed by Excel and hosted in a multi-tenant environment at a third party data center. Using Cordys, Excel Software experienced benefits including increased developer productivity, lower total cost of ownership and a dramatically shorter deployment time of 3-4 weeks, which is five times faster than before.

"Cordys gave us the ability to break up complex business processes into simple, discrete services, wrap them into flexible bundles, and combine these bundles in all heavy duty enterprise grade transactions. There was a tangible shift towards demystifying enterprise level collaboration and finding connections between people and information at every level. The framework helped us to maintain our competitive lead by leveraging existing IT investments to adapt existing solutions and building new processes to meet the rapidly changing business requirements of our customers," said Uday Vijayan, Managing Director at Excel Software. "We can now offer our customers ease of use with a highly scalable and always available solution. Model driven app development also gives us a lower total cost of ownership and faster time to market."

"ISVs are rapidly embracing the SaaS model, giving them the power to deploy their software solutions to more customers than ever before, with improved reliability and performance than on-premise or traditional colocation deployments," added Steve Thomas, VP Field Operations Asia-Pacific & Japan at Cordys. "The Cordys Enterprise Cloud Platform helps ISVs modernize and evolve their products and services to help differentiate, get to market faster and create new customer focused business opportunities in the cloud."
