Schad, the engineering mobility software specialist, has entered into a global partnership with Vanderlande Industries, the specialist in automated material handling systems used by airports, manufacturing and logistics departments and postal specialists. As part of the agreement, Vanderlande Industries will be launching the Vanderlande Industries Mobile Maintenance Solution (MMS) which integrates SCADA with enterprise asset management solutions such as IBM Maximo. Schad worked closely with Vanderlande Industries to develop the solution as a new maintenance management tool.

Vanderlande Industries will use the software to improve the operational performance of their site based teams, to increase the value and quality of service to their customers.  Vanderlande's customers will benefit from using MMS powered by Schad because of the higher efficiency, lower costs and improved management reporting of site-based teams.

Using the Mobile Maintenance Solution, Vanderlande Industries' site based teams will have the ability to monitor system performance from any location using any mobile device over Wi-Fi or GPRS. What makes this solution unique is, that it additionally offers maintenance engineers full mobile working capabilities by giving users a seamless integration between their existing SCADA system and IBM's MAXIMO maintenance (enterprise asset management) system. This further demonstrates Vanderlande's commitment to innovations that bring customers' system availability up and costs down.

The Mobile Maintenance Solution (MMS) is available now to new and existing Vanderlande customers who have implemented a full service solution and use a permanently site-based Vanderlande support team. Currently, Vanderlande has more than 60 site-based teams. The Vanderlande team at London Heathrow Terminal 5 is the 1st team that is already using this new mobile solution. The aim is to deploy it also at a number of other sites in 2012.

"Vanderlande Industries is the first automation specialist that currently has a mobility offering like this and we are delighted to be offering integrated mobile SCADA and maintenance as an enhancement to our full service solutions.  Mobility clearly differentiates us as a supplier and adds a lot of extra value to the overall benefits of using automation," says Tjarko Bouman, Director of Customer Services at Vanderlande Industries.

"Vanderlande has always been associated with innovation that is pragmatic and delivers a clear financial return. The fact that the leading industrial automation specialist has chosen to formalise a partnership with Schad, demonstrates the unique value of our software and the strategic importance of mobile working for maintenance teams that support fast moving and complex automation environments. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Vanderlande Industries as we start work on implementations at customer sites," says James Hannay, Managing Director at Schad Ltd.
