One of the largest and most successful logistics providers in Europe has equipped its entire operation network exclusively with Citizen's printers. Dachser has invested in over 1500 Citizen thermal printers throughout its operations in Europe, providing a wholly integrated system that helps ensure logistic processes and comprehensive network runs smoothly and efficiently.

The key to Dachser's success has been achieved by pioneering the development and use of advanced identification, communication and management systems, most recently through the company's Wholly Integrated Network (WIN) project. This defines their quality standards, implements process optimisation, and homogenisation of computer equipment. The necessary infrastructure required to meet this demand involved setting up dedicated IT infrastructure using common applications, software tools and equipment, including printers, throughout its sites.

After initial tests proved successful, Dachser decided to standardise on Citizen printers to suit its needs in terms of performance reliability and ease of use. The first sites in France were equipped with the CLP-7202e models; now replaced by the new generation CL-S700 printers supplied by French Integrator ATSCAN and installation is expected to continue further into Portuguese and North African sites.

Gatan Mandin, Administration Manager of the Information Systems Department, confirmed, "We are really very satisfied with the Citizen Printers.  They are rugged, show unparalleled reliability and out perform the competitor brand that we had used previously. The majority of the printers are positioned at the shipping docks in our sites where transport labels are needed.  They are placed in mobile workstations that protect the computer and are connected to both the computer and the network"

Gatan Mandin added, "The standardisation of our systems aims to avoid interface problems. Due to the international dimension of our organisation we have to overcome language barriers across our workforce, so we have adapted accordingly by providing key IT systems in different languages. With Citizen Printers, we can now successfully set the language, something that would otherwise have caused us costly and timely problems."

Dachser's business achievements have been duly recognised and received an award for Green IT Best Practice Award in the category Sustainable and innovative Energy Efficiency in Information and Communication Technology in 2010 in Berlin.

Gatan Mandin concluded, "Our partnership with the Citizen team is excellent. For maintenance, we work with 'LP Services', but day-to-day maintenance such as changing print heads can be carried out quickly by our own technicians. The flexibility and efficiency of our perfectly organised logistics network makes our company a leading logistics provider on the European continent and Citizen is an important link in this chain."
