Heavy equipment transporter, FTX Logistics, recently launched a web-based timesheet management system as part of their new staff intranet developed by Bradford on Avon based Boson Media Ltd.

FTX Logistics of Salisbury, Wiltshire operates the Heavy Equipment Transporter service for the MoD, and supply temporary drivers and DSA registered LGV driving instructors. With a workforce based across the country, the company needed to find a way to communicate with remote staff and simplify administrative processes such as the completion of weekly timesheets.

Boson created a bespoke web-based timesheet app that enabled FTX drivers to update their timesheets 'on the move', providing real time updates to managers back at head office.

Similarly, Boson's intranet enabled the company to re-enforce their 'Zero Harm' health & safety policy, enabling staff to access relevant documentation via their own dedicated log in to the site. With email and SMS reminders built into the system, managers now have more control of compliance and can monitor individual engagement with essential health & safety information.

Commenting on the developments, Ian Bryant of FTX Logistics was pleased to report: "The first Monday of our new timesheet software saw nearly all timesheets completed. At best, we'd expect 20% to be complete by this time on our old system."

A recent Health & Safety audit commended FTX's intranet on its support of the company's 'Zero Harm' safety initiative. The audit noted that the company's SMS reminder service, document 'read receipts' and management reports ensured that key information was getting into the hands of those who needed it.

With staff engagement in the new processes at an all-time high, FTX Logistics have harnessed the power of the web to deliver clear business benefits.
