Vocollect a business unit of Intermec, Inc., a Voice-centric solutions provider for mobile workers has announced that, with its latest software release for rugged mobile computers, it is now the only voice provider with Voice-directed workflow solution support for all four of the leading vendors in the logistics and distribution market: Intermec, Psion, LXE and Motorola.

With the advent of Vocollect VoiceClient for Handheld Computers Version 2.0, starting this July, customers around the world can improve their business performance with the latest, most-deployed software across a broad range of devices. This software release also marks the first release of Vocollect Voice for Intermec's flagship 70 Series of mobile computers.

The new Vocollect Voice software complements Vocollect Talkman mobile appliances, continuing to provide industry-leading voice solutions for distribution centres (DCs) and warehouses across a broad range of mobile devices for companies that are seeking the productivity, accuracy and safety gains of Voice with their distribution workforce.

"As part of our continuing commitment to enable our Voice-centric warehouse vision and to provide the best voice software to our partners and customers, we've enhanced and extended our most current VoiceClient software version to even more industry-leading mobile computing devices," said Lyle Sprinkle, director of product management, Vocollect. "We have supported Vocollect Voice on non-Vocollect devices for years, allowing voice and scanning to be used on many multi-vendor mobile computers since 2005. This latest release aligns all of our existing Vocollect and non-Vocollect devices to the same VoiceClient software."

"As part of Intermec, Vocollect will continue to provide the broadest range of high-quality, integrated voice solutions for our customers," said Sprinkle. "While the vast majority of distribution customers prefer a dedicated voice appliance, certain customers with multi-functional needs including voice, as well as those looking to evolve over time from their current hardware platform to a dedicated Voice platform, may prefer to have their Voice-directed workflow solution provided on a rugged mobile computer."

Later this year, Vocollect will extend Vocollect Voice for multi-vendor mobile computers with its newest client software solution, VoiceCatalyst, to provide even greater capability in the development and deployment of Voice-enabled solutions across multiple workflows.
