Epicor Software Corporation has announced that Romanian manufacturer Dexion Storage Solutions will implement its Epicor 9 next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Dexion plans to integrate its business processes with Epicor, from financials and production planning to customer management.
Dexion chose Epicor for its local expertise, the software's compliance with Romanian legislations and regulations, as well as Epicor's business solutions being an ideal functional fit with Dexion's complex requirements.
"In view of Dexion's constant growth and development in the Romanian market, we realized that we needed a powerful solution to help us manage our accounting, supply and manufacturing processes, as well as our customer contacts," said Brian Howson, general manager for Dexion Storage Solutions. "We were looking for a 'turn-key' solution that would be specifically designed for our needs, as well as a local support team that will be able to respond promptly to any requests."
Howson added, "We wanted a proven solution, created by a team of specialists that would make sure the system is working properly and is appropriately adapted and updated according to our needs. Epicor ERP was the clear choice for us, and we are pleased with the implementation process. We are confident that the final results of this joint effort will live up to, and even surpass, our expectations."
Part of the international Constructor Group, Dexion started its business in Romania in 2006, establishing modern factory facilities in Rasnov, Brasov county. Since then, Dexion has grown to become one of the market leaders in the storage solutions industry in South-Eastern Europe. Dexion specialises in designing, manufacturing and selling various storage systems, from pallet racking to archive solutions. The Rasnov based factory also manufactures solutions especially designed for the local market such as two types of console shelving for long goods, various handling solutions, as well as custom-made accessories.
Dexion has previously used Epicor solutions in its UK and Romanian factories, and is familiar with Epicor's easy to use, yet extremely powerful and highly adaptable business software solutions.
Dexion required an enterprise solution with complex functionality that would be able to handle the many types of products, parts and accessories manufactured and sold by the company. Dexion's tagline is 'Creating Space', referencing that the company not only sells racking, but a complete package created and designed for perfect optimisation of available storage space. Each project, large or small, is specifically designed by experienced engineers who propose the best solution that offers maximum storage space at the best price. Due to the company's project-based approach and focus on customising, Dexion offers only a few standard products and each situation is different, requiring special parts and accessories. This situation creates a wealth of variations and parts that need to be managed by a powerful software database.
Epicor ERP is recognised as an invaluable tool for manufacturing units and is particularly suitable for situations like Dexion's, where they are managing multiple, non-standard products, parts and accessories. For this reason and more, the racking manufacturer chose the complete Epicor solution for its accounting, production planning and customer management processes.
Another major concern for Dexion's management team is the constant changes in Romanian laws and regulations. Due to the company's expanding product range and activities, as well as the volatile nature of Romanian laws, Dexion required a dynamic and flexible system that will be easily and continually updated for best performance and consistency with the national regulations. This requires not only a flexible software solution, but also the assistance of a local team of experts to implement and support these changes.
Based on extensive market research that Dexion conducted, they chose Epicor as the most suitable solution to help drive company growth. Assisted by the Epicor consulting team in Romania, Dexion's implementation is progressing according to plan and is expected to go live soon.
"Manufacturers throughout the world can benefit from Epicor's ease of use and ability to adapt to business and industry-specific requirements," said James Norwood, senior vice president, worldwide product marketing for Epicor. "Our solutions scale as our customers' businesses expand, change and ultimately grow, and we are confident that Dexion will enjoy that same flexibility. Offering Dexion a robust and flexible platform, we are confident they will achieve a foundation for business decisions to be made based on current, real-time information, which means they can react quickly to changing market conditions and stay competitive in challenging environments."
