Ortec has announced its sponsoring of and participation in Australia's supply chain management event: Smart Conference & Expo 2011 (25-26 May). Ortec is exhibiting at this event to assist the promotion of supply chain best practices and knowledge sharing in Australia.

"The Smart Conference & Expo 2011 is a must-visit for professionals in supply chain or logistics", says Alan Thomas, Joint Managing Director Ortec Australia & New Zealand. "Ortec is attending in order to showcase our innovative solutions for solving the logistics industries most complex scheduling problems e.g.: container cartage; farm collection; multi-day, rolling horizon planning; planning around traffic congestion; trailer pre-loading; compartment assignment, x-docking and multi depot."

During the event Ortec will be unveiling the latest releases of its Vehicle Routing and Dispatch solutions Ortec Transport & Distribution and Ortec Shortrec, with all the new functionality, such as the Congestion module, resource scheduling, and more.

Updated Route proposal screen
"Both releases focus on web & usability", says Alan. "One of the enhancements in Ortec TD for example includes a completely updated route proposal screen. This screen enables the user to clearly view the alternative scenarios for the optimal route (according to costs, distance, time) and it is also possible to display a preview of the 'proposed' route. In addition, Ortec has developed a web client that now enables planners to use the software from any location with Internet access."

Congestion Patterns Module
Also in Ortec Shortrec a number of striking improvements have been made to the map screen in order to provide users with a more effective and faster viewing capability. "We are especially proud of the improvements in the route calculation features, the most prominent of which relate to the ability to incorporate traffic congestion delays into the route plans.and the CO2 calculator. Integration with the Congestion Patterns module supports a more accurate estimated time of arrival" This function is already part of the Ortec Transport and Distribution solution and as Alan Thomas explains: "With Navteq's congestion pattern data for trucks, Ortec Shortrec's plans now also include statistical information relating to traffic delays. The CO2 calculator on the other hand provides the planner with an indication of the amount of emissions per vehicle, route and total plan. This information can therefore be used for KPI reporting purposes."

Alan Thomas: "To conclude, Ortec has enough to show to the visitors. More than we can write about in any news item. So don't miss our stand at the Smart Conference & Expo 2011 in Sydney and you'll see for yourself. We are proud to be there and proud to be associated with Australia's leading supply chain management event."
