JDA Software Group, Inc., the supply chain company, has announced that The Boeing Company, the aerospace company and manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft, is live with JDA Make-to-Order and JDA Procurement Management.

The $67 billion company which utilises JDA's solutions for its manufacturing execution system within the Boeing Defence, Space and Security (BDS) division recently deployed the technology in two major BDS divisions across 13 sites. The implementations mark the first half of the manufacturer's multi-phased plan to adopt common processes and systems across all BDS locations.

As the cornerstone of its common suite of technology, JDA's Make-to-Order and Procurement Management solutions enable the manufacturer to decrease unexpected buying, automate end-to-end procurement lifecycle planning and improve contract-oriented resource planning and execution. As a result, Boeing has achieved on-time delivery performance, reduced overhead costs, enhanced cash flow and productivity, as well as optimised operational efficiency.

"Boeing adopted JDA solutions as the keystone applications for its BDS division over the past few years," said Jerry Fear, Boeing senior manager, information technology, supply chain systems. "Having already successfully deployed these applications, we are on target to achieve our objective of accelerating and deploying this common set of tools. Completing major deployments across all BDS locations will enhance our overall business processes and bring us closer to our vision of 'buy anywhere, build anywhere.'"

"JDA's Make-to-Order and Procurement Management solutions support Boeing's system consolidation initiative to greatly reduce the number of applications being used within the company," Fear added. "Utilising JDA's proven products enables us to retire hundreds of applications that use older technologies. The JDA solutions have helped us improve bottom-line results and deliver more value to customers."

Nancie Torrence, JDA's group vice president of government, aerospace and defence, commented, "In order to maintain a competitive edge, successful manufacturers understand that orchestrating all aspects of production planning and scheduling for enhanced productivity, control and prioritisation requires fully integrated, supply chain software solutions. Leveraging JDA's Make-to-Order and JDA Procurement Management solutions can enable Boeing to proactively address the numerous factors involved in master planning, implement effective production schedules and execute master plans to maximise revenue and achieve long-term profitability."
