Belgravium and Planet Communication enhance partnership with new software products

Planet Communication, specialists in providing Data Acquisition and IT solutions for business, announced in late 2009 that it had signed a partnership agreement with Belgravium, a manufacturer of rugged mobile computing devices. Planet agreed to offer Belgravium products as a platform for its mobile computing software within the Italian market.

At the time of the agreement Planet's operations embraced a wide spectrum of business activities including bespoke software design, hardware procurement and installation and general consultancy on a range of business issues including marketing, HR, Finance, Health & Safety etc. However, in order to fully exploit the business potential of the new partnership, Planet formed a new operating division 'MacroSpazio' that was centred on computing hardware and software. A web site was established at which provided further details on the range of software and hardware available.

In the interim period, MacroSpazio software engineers have worked to produce a suite of new software applications that has enabled the Belgravium-MacroSpazio partnership to enter additional vertical markets. The new packages include ;

Idea-Misu: a comprehensive package for meter reading applications ( gas, water, electricity etc.)

Idea-Barc: a stock control package that handles deliveries, stock movements and invoicing

Idea-Mail: a software utility for managing an organisation's electronic mail. The package has advanced searching and protection features as well as OCR support and archiving facilities.

Idea-Post: a sophisticated package for courier & postal services that includes on-screen signature capture, matched with GPS co-ordinate data.

Idea-Cesp: an inventory / asset tracking system. Users are provided with access to the source code, allowing for easy system modification.

All of the MacroSpazio packages are fully compatible with the Belgravium range of mobile computing hardware, including the 'Atlanta' and 'Boston' Windows CE devices and the H19 Windows Mobile unit.

Pietro Ricca, Executive Manager of Planet Communication, commented on the on-going success of the partnership "The past five years has seen Planet grow steadily and sensibly. Our strategic aim was to become the leading business consultancy and provider of computing solutions to a variety of sectors in the Italian market. We think we've already made considerable progress towards that aim and the addition of the new software offerings should help still further. The quality of the Belgravium hardware, when combined with our own exceptional consultancy and integration skills, represents a powerful overall data capture solution. This has enabled us to acquire a solid customer base, including STI and 9REN, during the first year of the partnership."

About - Planet Communications / MacroSpazio
Planet Communication was formed in 2005, bringing together a range of highly qualified professional consultants from a diverse range of business disciplines. The strategic goal of the new organisation is to offer a modern consultancy service that embraces the full spectrum of a business project from the pre-analysis and specification through to development and realisation of the solution.

From 2007 Planet Communication's scope of activities widened to include several new areas of competence. This now meant that the organisation could advise upon, and if necessary manage, the complete spectrum of organisational activities including technical innovation leading to the marketing and development of products.

Today Planet Communication is a forerunner in the provision of general business advice and the development of custom IT solutions for a wide range of business applications. The company's client list includes McDonalds, SEAT, Houles and many other companies, ranging from 'start ups' to Multi-Nationals.

The company believes that innovation can provide positive cost benefits to a business using fresh ideas and new technology. Planet's 'MacroSpazio' division provides total mobile solutions and can help interface new mobile applications with existing back office systems. This cuts cost and allows organisations to use their in-house staff to develop any management or reporting functions as required.

The MacroSpazio-Belgravium partnership
Belgravium Technologies manufacture a wide range of rugged mobile computing devices, incorporating both WAN and LAN technologies, that are available to MacroSpazio customers. The units are IP-rated and have numerous shock-absorbing components which make them particularly well suited to harsh environments such as warehouses, fuel delivery, industrial manufacturing environments and more demanding field-based locations, as well as for general business use. Mike Turner, Marketing Manager for Belgravium comments "MacroSpazio have both the experience and resources to handle a mobile computing project implementation throughout all it's many and, sometimes complex, stages. They are a quality partner with whom we've worked closely during the past twelve months and with whom we're particularly pleased to be associated."

Pietro Ricca concludes "Within a business organisation, reliable transmission of data is paramount. Our reputation is founded upon the reliability of the solutions we provide. We select our partners carefully because we cannot afford to compromise this vital information chain. We recognised, in establishing the original relationship, that Belgravium Technologies had become a major player in mobile computing and our partnership has been very rewarding for both companies. Our joint aim is to deliver "accountable" mobile computing solutions that will deliver business benefits for our clients from day one. Both companies will continue to broaden the range of solutions throughout 2011 and, I'm certain, this will ensure our continued success. ".
