InnoTeletek, a developer and manufacturer of versatile mobile computers, has announced that the global launch of the Catchwell CW20 Series handheld computer will take place this month. Designed for a wide range of data collection tasks, the truly compact and very rugged CW20 Series is a feature-rich and powerful device particularly suited by its robust nature, for field workers. However, for users in retail environments where lightweight handheld devices are particularly sought after for stock management applications, it is also equally at home.

The Catchwell CW20 is brought to market on the back of an award of a contract to supply over 7000 of its new devices for the Korean Post, where the combination of its performance and ruggedised IP65 rating made it a clear winner in a benchmarking test. Based around a powerful 806MHz platform, the CW20 is supplied with built-in high speed WLAN using 802.11b/g complete with industry standard encryption and authentication security capability. The 4 radios in one design also features Bluetooth, GPS and wireless WAN. As you would expect, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA (also known as UMTS) are featured ensuring a comprehensive level of enterprise connectivity and functionality. In addition, the device includes a 13.56Mhz RFID feature with further powerful enhancements to be introduced during the first half of 2011.

A choice of the very latest Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro or Windows CE 5.0 operating platform, ensures stability and the CW20 is offered with either a 1-D laser or 2-D imager dependent on your data capture requirements. The device has a high capacity battery (3300mAh) making easily able to handle a busy work shift without re-charging. A 3M Pixel autofocus digital camera provides all that is needed for those critical proofs of delivery applications and its operating ability irrespective of lighting conditions makes this handheld device the obvious choice for a range of applications. Finally, a range of accessories makes up the CW20 offering including a single and four slot charging units and, of course, a vehicle cradle.

The CW20 is IP65 rated and this combined with a 1.8m drop rating means that it is able to withstand the harshest of operations and environments. But, as Sean Lee, EMEA Sales Manager for Overseas Sales and Marketing, explains, it is highly versatile. "Its' very compact nature and functionality makes it ideal for both in-premise retail applications for example, and its ruggedised construction and specifications are perfect for the harsher operating conditions experienced by field workers such as those in the utilities sector." Lee added, "We have managed to combine a product which has all of the performance that you would wish for but within a form factor that makes it the obvious choice for both its performance and range of features wherever your requirements for data capture on the move may be."
