Imtech launches new operation in the UK

Imtech is launching a new operation in the UK to offer its logistics software. Imtech ICT Logistics Software will offer UK customers its LBASE Transport Management System (TMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) in traditional hardware/software form, and there will also be a Software as a Service (SaaS) option. Also part of Imtech's portfolio is a parcel and courier system called cargoNET.

LBASE has been successfully installed in numerous leading logistics operations across Europe from large players such as Swiss Post, Panalpina, DHL and Logwin to medium-sized companies like Barth, Emos and EXTRA. The system was developed by the Austrian TMS/WMS specialist TRANSFLOW, which was acquired by the giant Imtech NV group in 2008. As part of a group reorganisation, TRANSFLOW will become Imtech ICT Logistics Software from 1st January 2011.

Imtech NV is a major European technical services provider in the fields of electrical engineering, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and mechanical engineering. Based in Gouda in The Netherlands, the group employs 25,000 staff across Europe and achieves annual revenues of over 4.3 billion Euros.

The group already has an established presence in the UK through Imtech ICT UK Limited. From its offices in Basingstoke, Chessington and Altrincham some 300 120 employees are dedicated to providing services such as IT outsourcing, server hosting and IT consultation to leading companies across all sectors, including logistics and supply chain. The operation also provides an IT support infrastructure for Imtech ICT Logistics Software.

Imtech offers the right logistics software solution at the right time for the UK supply chain sector, according to Imtech ICT Logistics Software's UK country manager, Rob Gibney. He commented: "After holding back during the economic downturn, companies are once again investing in logistics IT. Many of these companies are operating ageing systems that struggle to meet the demands of their customers for more complex warehousing and transportation tasks. They are looking to agile and capable TMS and WMS systems, such as LBASE, to give them the capability to carry out these tasks. Our parcels and courier solution cargoNET, which completes our portfolio of logistics software, will further extend our clients' capabilities."

Rob continues: "Many solutions in this sector are from either small, home grown organisations or are modules of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems that lack the functionality required to meet the needs of today's logistics operations. Imtech, however, is a dedicated logistics software company that offers specialist, best of breed TMS and WMS backed up by a multi-billion Euro IT group. Our aim is to improve our customers' business performance by looking at their workflows and providing software that is both flexible and adaptable. This will ultimately allow our customers to improve service levels for their customers."
