Coop Estense supermarket Nuovo Doro in Ferrara choseDatalogic Mobile EBS's Joya pod to give its members and customers theopportunity to shop in a new, fun, fast and interactive way. With 55outlets including supermarkets, hypermarkets and minimarkets, CoopEstense is one of the major consumer cooperatives (the third for itsturnover) of the Coop group, a major player in modern distribution inItaly.

The180 Joyas delivered to the store of 2000 square meters, with 8 standardcounters and 4 kiosks for automatic payment, are integrated withTPiShop software from Wincor Nixdorf, a consulting firm and developerof technologies for banking and retail sectors. TPiShop is a platformthat facilitates purchases by means of portable devices, due to aseries of functions like communication, localization and delivery ofmultimedia content.

The positive partnership among Datalogic,Coop and Wincor Nixdorf is the basis of Salvatempo service, in servicesince 21 June. It has been already widely appreciated by customers andshareholders which are happy and intrigued by this new way of shopping:dynamic and modern modality that allows the customers to get moreinvolved and aware in the purchasing process and to be closer to theirneeds, increasing the propensity to purchase and the average receiptvalue.

"We especially liked Joya's versatility and the ease withwhich the TPiShop application we have previously chosen, was revived onthis new terminal," said Katia Lucchesi, Dir ITC Este. "We areconfident that the satisfaction will be confirmed by our Members whotraditionally are loyal users of this self-scanning tool. With thischoice Coop Estense reiterates its focus on technologies that makeshopping in their stores simple, pleasant and fast."

Joya, which has been successfully deployed in the supermarkets of othercooperatives (Unicoop Florence, Coop Adriatica Coop Lombardia, CoopLiguria), enables customers to easily read barcodes of the variousproducts placing them directly in the shopping trolley, to display theprice, the number of purchases, any promotions or discounts on theproduct, the balance of loyalty points and the total amount of thepurchase, reducing, in this way, waiting time at checkout.

Thisis the result of Datalogic Mobile business strategies that provide thepossibility for retailers to use Joya Shopevolution together with thecomplete solution or integrated with other company's self-scanning, toensure maximum flexibility in creating the ideal solution for itscustomers.

Gianmario Bianchessi, Wincor Nixdorf RetailMarketing Manager Italy, commented: "The widespread and deeply feltneed for innovative technologies that make shopping faster, moreinstructive and enjoyable is the basis of this successful partnershipwith Datalogic and Coop.
