Epicor Software Corporation, provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of Global 1000 companies, has announced that Bowman Power Group Ltd, a clean technology company in the field of exhaust energy recovery systems to improve power efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions in piston engines, has selected the Epicor 9 next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. As a young company beginning the mass-commercialisation of its products, Bowman Power will be implementing Epicor ERP across engineering, manufacturing, production, supply chain, sales and customer warranty services.

Started in 2004, Bowman Power has been dedicated to the development of clean technology to increase the efficiency of internal combustion engines through the regeneration of energy from exhaust fumes. The company has been focusing largely on the research & development of its products and the creation of engineering samples for testing and early adopters. The company is now commercialising the products and already has large orders to fulfil, which has driven the need for an ERP solution, replacing the small business software and in-house developed systems used to date.

"Our business is going through a transition period and we needed to find an ERP solution that could give us the professional systems to support our business, not only while it was relatively simple, but future proofing us as we grow significantly over the next 3 years," said David Lamb, Finance director at Bowman Power. "As an implementation rather than replacement project, we wanted to ensure that the functionality of the system would allow it to grow with the business, but also to provide class leading tools here and now for our manufacturing and supply chain team in particular."

At the hub of the selection process were Bowman's engineering change requirements, which are complicated as the company is constantly refining its products to improve the amount of energy that can be recovered, durability and crucially lower the costs of manufacture.

"Epicor excelled for us on the breadth of functionality available at the cost point," added Lamb. "The solution is as rich as that of any of the other tier 1 or 2 ERP companies, and has features for engineering change that the competition simply couldn't match. We were also very impressed by the team that would be working on our project, as we were concerned about dealing with a faceless giant. Epicor's UK team is highly focused on delivery and clearly has a great deal of implementation experience."

"For Epicor to be selected as the solution for Bowman Power at such a critical point in its growth is fantastic," said James Norwood, senior vice president, worldwide product marketing for Epicor. "Time and time again customers tell us that the breadth of functionality in the product is a key driver for them, and that its price point makes ERP a viable technology for their business."
