Sterling Commerce is witnessing continued growth of its cloud-based B2B integration services.

cloud softwareSterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc company, is witnessing continued growth of its cloud-based B2B integration services. Over the past twelve months, 77 new Sterling B2B Managed Services customers have been taken onboard, increasing the number of Sterling Collaboration Network (SCN) users by more than eight per cent. Companies including Ardex, Valmet Automotive, Bonnie Plants Farms (Alabama Farmers), REI, Campbell and Hirschvogel have chosen Sterling Commerces comprehensive B2B integration services to reduce costs and expedite their return on investment (ROI).

By using the B2B integration software at the core of its B2B integration services, Sterling Commerce provides customers with the choice to define, deploy, and extend their B2B integration solutions on-premise, as-a-service, mobile or as a hybrid system. The cloud-based B2B integration solutions provide companies with the flexibility to align systems with the growing needs of their business, while managing costs on an ongoing basis.

Enterprises are choosing to outsource non-core competencies and opt for managed B2B services to gain fast ROI from lower upfront costs. A recent IDC study demonstrates that, On average, for every 1 invested in Sterling B2B Managed Services, the companies in the study received 5.70 in reduced costs, increased productivity and other business benefits. The data from this research has been used to power a B2B Managed Services ROI Calculator.

A recent upgrade to the B2B integration as-a-service platform in EMEA has created a global platform supported by a global team. Customers now have access to Sterling e-Invoicing delivered as-a-service and benefit from enhanced features, which provide greater visibility into their processes, for example into historical data. As part of the companys mobility strategy, customers will have access to Sterling Commerce B2B applications from mobile devices.

The decision to outsource our B2B was simple because we knew the return on investment would occur instantly. The Sterling Commerce solution was 90 per cent less expensive than our in-house option, said Nico Schuetz, Lead IT Technician at Hirschvogel Inc.

B2B integration is the final frontier of integration.  But, companies are finding they must face that frontier to optimise their complex integration needs across business collaboration networks and to lower B2B costs, said Dave Carmichael, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Sterling Commerce. The increasing trend towards outsourcing of non-core competencies and a global recession have accelerated the use of a services model to solve B2B integration challenges.

In the face of a global recession, many businesses, and particularly in manufacturing and logistics sectors, have continued to recognise the critical role of collaborative business integration projects in delivering a fast ROI with lower upfront costs.

Few boards accept projects with three-five year investment terms any more, but outsourcing can provide these companies with both choice and flexibility. In a market where vendor consolidation has created uncertainty for companies and forced them to rethink their B2B integration strategies, Sterling Commerce is viewed as a safe pair of hands.
