Liebensteiner wrapping IT up with ORTEC

After a short project duration of about four months including a one month test-period for fine tuning between the systems first successes were immediately noticeable. "Early on, Liebensteiner could already notice improved capacity utilisation of the vehicles, faster planning of cost optimal trips, as well as improved cooperation between delivery- and pro-duction planning," explained Bernhard Vetter, project leader at Liebensteiner. In addition, with ORTECs solutions we have been very well prepared for the growth, which we have experienced in recent years."

Time consuming
Manual calculation (estimate) of the load space required for a transport, as well as sched-uling of all planned trips, have often been time consuming and imprecise, due to rapid de-velopments and flexibility at Liebensteiner. Consequently, the intended vehicle was often either not efficiently used or goods did not fit completely into the designated vehicle. Fur-thermore, allocation of trips based on history could be improved considerably.

Strong growth
In the meantime, the company can look back on strong growth within the last two years, the number of employees, for example, has risen from 170 to more than 220 and the com-pany truck fleet has been expanded from 14 to 19 vehicles. Due to the good order vol-ume, the number of loads to be planned on a daily basis has increased, as well as the percentage of Just in Time orders. Both can easily be done with the utilised software. Thanks to this solution, Liebensteiner is well prepared for the future and can implement short term changes without any problems.
