The 9950 includes new keypad configuration options to accommodate user preferences and needed applications. The availability of three keypad configurations allows users to select the configuration that best matches their specific scenariowhether it be a full alpha/numeric keypad for warehouse and distribution environments or a smaller keypad with shifted alpha/numeric functions for simple retail use.

Windows Mobile provides a familiar and flexible experience helping workers stay connected to information they need and enhancing productivity in the field, said Chip Vollers, senior product manager of Windows Mobile. Were pleased to work with Honeywell on this latest device in the Dolphin 9900 mobile computer series.

Targetted for scan intensive environments such as back-end retail, warehousing, distribution and supply-chain, the Dolphin 9950 is simple to operate and lightweight where competitive products can be difficult and heavy. Additionally, the Dolphin 9950 delivers full Shift-Plus battery performance10+ hourseliminating the need to replace batteries during most work shifts. Ideal for work in rough local environments, the Dolphin 9950 has an IP64-rating and is designed to survive 5-foot drops to concrete and more than 2,000 3-foot tumbles.

Customer feedback since the launch of the Dolphin 9900 almost a year ago has been extremely positive, said Garrison Gomez, Manager of Mobility Marketing for Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. The Dolphin 9950 provides an option for customers who value the connectivity and reliability of the proven 9900 mobile computing platform in a form factor that is comfortable for long hours of scanning and data entry. We are committed to providing mobile workers with the most ergonomic and rugged solution available.

The extended lifecycle management platform allows for migration from the Dolphin 9550 to the next-generation Dolphin 9950 while keeping much of their legacy hardware (accessories, batteries and device peripherals) in place, therefore enabling significant cost savings. Additionally, user interaction with the Dolphin 9950 is nearly identical to that of its predecessor, reducing or eliminating requirements for user training and easing the migration of software applications onto the new device.

The Dolphin 9950s computing architecture includes an Intel PXA 270 624 MHz processor with 256MB RAM x 1GB FLASH memory to ensure fast performance in data intensive applications. An integrated 802.11b/g radio delivers fast wireless communication that supports advanced wireless security standards. The Dolphin 9950 also offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
