SAP Business ByDesign provides efficiency to small UK businesses

SAP has announced that customers in the UK are now live and seeing benefits with its SAP Business ByDesign solution across the pharmaceutical, manufacturing and professional services industries.

This complete, adaptable on-demand solution is specifically developed for the demands of midsize companies who look to unify their business operations end-to-end through a modular, on-demand IT strategy.

The first company to go-live was Archimedes Pharma, a pan-European pharmaceutical company with established commercial organisations in the UK, France, Germany and Ireland.  Having previously run its business on two different platforms, the company decided to move to one integrated and comprehensive business solution to increase efficiency by being able to manage all business processes centrally and make faster, better-informed business decisions based on an instant overview of all mission-critical company data.  Archimedes supply chain will benefit from integration of warehouse and third party distribution functionality into their products and business model, thus leveraging integrated processes to differentiate their products and services from their competitors.

We wanted the company to be more scalable as we expand and grow further into Europe, said Tim Watts, CFO, Archimedes Pharma. We needed to further optimise our finance and supply chain processes and operations and be certain of getting things right the first time around. SAP Business ByDesign will help us with faster reporting times and integration across the whole business.

Pentagon Chemicals, a leading independent UK manufacturer of fine chemicals, went live with SAP Business ByDesign in September 2008. Pentagon has an excellent reputation as a quality contract manufacturer and processor for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and industrial sectors and has a wide supply chain network across the world.  This includes 800 suppliers, 250 customers and a wide range of process technology and manufacturing plants.

We selected SAP because we needed a comprehensive integrated business suite which can help to manage its business processes in an efficient and transparent way.  The software as a service solution also fitted exactly with our strategic intent, which was to outsource our non-core functions, said Nick Lindop, Fine Chemicals General Manager.

The SAP Business ByDesign solution has also gone live within the professional services sector with the go-live of Red-M, a company that provides consultancy, design, audit, integration and consultancy services.  The solution will provide real-time access to accurate information from across the business, and will also integrate all of the companys key business processes.

Steve Leach, Chief Technology Officer at Red-M commented; We are looking at expanding our business into Europe and in order to do this we must have efficient processes and systems in place.  In the current economic downturn, we are also extremely conscious of any cost spending so the Business ByDesign solution was the perfect fit.
