Eismann UK, a provider of top quality frozen food, has gone live with Solarsoft Business Systems next-generation ERP software which provides Eismann with fully integrated back-office ordering, warehouse control and distribution through one integrated system.

Eismann has already seen, through the implementation of Solarsoft, reductions in picking errors to less than 1% of picked goods. Indeed, by the end of the year, Eismann expects that picking error costs will have been reduced to as little as 0.5%.

Eismann UK sells high-quality frozen food to over 65,000 customers via a franchise system involving over 130 driver/salesmen. Each of these salesmen provide up to 70 customers a day with a personal service taking the shop to their door. In total, at least 12.5 million worth of stock per annum will be processed through the Solarsoft system which manages all the reporting and collating of sales information, including processing customers orders, picking of deliveries and stock replenishment in the warehouse.

Bill Asling, IT and Sales Controlling Manager, comments, With a manual picking system, we had no way of tracking where we were losing stock, nor did we have the resources to go through regular stock checks every day. However, through the use of Solarsofts ERP system, all of our individual items can be traced and tracked, allowing minimal room for picking error. As a result of the implementation, we are seeing reductions in picking errors and subsequent losses to only 1% of picked goods a statistic that we see dropping further still to as little as 0.5% by the end of 2008.

Asling continues, Due to the perishable nature of our products, a picking error is terminal it cannot be returned to the warehouse. We therefore had to find and implement a solution whereby our picking losses could be curtailed. Through Solarsoft, we can monitor our pickers performances and automate our recording of stock, whereas before it was an entirely manual paper exercise.

Solarsofts new ERP software, powered by the vendors xVP technology, is the result of significant investment into research and development by Solarsoft, made possible by the software vendors recent expansion following a series of acquisitions. Solarsofts xVP software includes an intuitive WindowsTM interface and a google-like search engine which significantly improves speed of operation and ease of use. The system is also available on multiple operating platforms.

Eismann UK has recently merged its head office and disparate facilities locations into one major depot and head office in Bedford, which also includes a cold store and logistics unit. Solarsoft provided the requisite servers and ERP software to allow the transition to take place, whilst also uniting the 10 remote depots around the country onto one single stock control, distribution and communications infrastructure.

Asling concludes, The underlying ethos of our company is to provide a personal service. Utilising the Solarsoft system, we are not only able to keep closer track of our stock, but we can also proactively assess our customers recent orders and send our salesmen on their delivery routes with up-to-date and targeted information. This then allows them to successfully cross-sell and up-sell, thereby improving the success of their own franchises too.
