Steel producer Ascometal Lucchini optimises heat treatment department

OM Partners, experts in supply chain planning software solutions, have announced that Ascometal-Lucchini has gone live with OMP Metals Solution for its heat treatment department at the Les Dunes- plant in Dunkerque (France).

Ascometal-Lucchini is a major player in special steel long products with a wide range of products, grades and specialties and with global presence in automotive, bearings, springs, oil/gas/mining and mechanics markets. 

Ascometal-Lucchini uses the OMP Metals Solution to schedule the operations on all furnaces at the heat treatment department. The solution optimises the loads on the different furnaces by means of an integrated material allocation and scheduling application. In order to increase the capacity usage of the furnaces, this material allocator groups bars together taking into account all material constraints. The OMP Metals Solution is also used on the shop floor for generating and processing feedback events which are sent to the plants SAP-ERP system.
