Datalogic introduces new industrial-strength scanners

Datalogic Scanning Inc. has launched the PowerScan D8500 2D handheld imager.

Specifically designed and constructed to withstand the toughest environmental conditions, the D8500 is a continuation of the PowerScan 8000 family and is ideal for demanding industrial environments. 

The PowerScan D8500 is extremely durable, with cables developed and tested to withstand thousands of bends, working to temperatures of -30C. The scanner is easy to use in manufacturing plants due to well balanced weight and the ergonomically designed handle.   

Available in three models, the standard D8500 is ideal for reading medium and low resolution barcodes from contact to over 25cm, whilst the high density optic model, D8500 HD, allows readings of particularly small codes such as those found on automotive parts and on chemicals or pharmaceuticals. The D8500 WA scanner is also able to capture larger and wider images because of its wide angle optic, meaning it is especially suited for shipping applications.  

Utilising the latest innovations in handheld reader technology, the PowerScan D8500 features a high-resolution mega pixel sensor (1280 x 1024 pixels). Datalogic 3GL Technology (Three Green Lights) ensures feedback in noisy environments along with enhanced good read feedback, no matter from what position the scan is taken.

Each model is IP65 rated, meaning it is extremely durable regardless of the operating environmental conditions including water, cold and dust, and has been drop tested to 2m. The PowerScan 8500 series replaces the Lynx D scanner, is offered as a corded model and comes equipped with inbuilt multi-interface including RS-232, keyboard wedge and USB.
