Imphy Alloys, located in Imphy, France, has installed OMP Scheduler from OM Partners to facilitate the implementation of lean manufacturing in its production islands.
The installation of the scheduling software is part of a larger project also involving the optimization of the Sales & Operations Planning and the Master Production Planning. The goals are to increase the customer service level and to reduce stock and throughput time. Since Imphy Alloys produces alloys with high-value metals, reducing its stock levels of both raw material and intermediate products has a significant financial impact.
Imphy Alloys carries out its Sales & Operations Planning with the OMP Planner module from the same software vendor, installed a few months ago. Due to its specific nature, Imphy Alloys has longer throughput times than most other steel plants. Therefore, it uses forecasts to anticipate the raw material requirements again with the objective to reduce its stock levels. The implementation of OMP Planner for the Master Production Planning is planned in the next months.
