K3 McGuffie Brunton, a leading enterprise business software company, has announced a major upgrade to the Lot Traceability features of SYSPRO ERP, enabling it to deliver comprehensive track and trace capabilities. The latest enhancements allow manufacturers to trace parts and lots, which is a critical function for certain industries, such as food, healthcare and pharmaceutical organisations.

In addition to enabling users to trace items back to source, while maintaining assurance certification and tracking expiration dates, the software allows one-to-one tracking between component serials/lots and parent item serials/lots. This enhanced performance means manufacturers can track component serial numbers used in the production of a particular parent serial number and component lot numbers used in the production of a particular parent lot. In addition, the upgraded solution maintains a history of traceable items and keeps detailed notes on inspections.

Jeremy Hart, Technical Director of K3 McGuffie Brunton, said: "The ability to trace lots and components is becoming increasingly vital to industries that must comply with safety regulations.

"SYSPRO assists businesses by providing them with greater visibility and control over quality and tracking in industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals and food where quality and conformance to directives and regulations are particularly crucial."

New setup options have been added to the Work in Progress (WIP) setup programme, which now include a choice of lots to be tracked from the components through to the parent part, or serials to be tracked from the components through to the parent part.

The WIP Job Issues and WIP Lots/Bins/Serials Posting programmes have also been enhanced. These enhancements allow users to select the reserved lots and/or reserved serials for the parent item into which the component lot and/or component serial number will be taken for kitting purposes, and there is now also the ability to reserve lots and serials for the parent item or co-products.

The WIP Job Receipt program has also been modified. Users can now trace the parent serials and lots back to the component serials and lots that were issued to the job. In addition, the WIP Inspection Maintenance program now enables the traceability of lots to the parent serials and lots back to the component serials and lots that were issued to the job at the time of accepting the items into stock.
