RETAIL SOLUTIONS 2007 - THE FUTURE OF RETAILING

Retail Solutions, the leading technology exhibition for the UKs fast moving retail sector, will this year feature Store of the Future, in association with Fujitsu, featuring innovative technologies that will be hitting the high street over the next five years, everything from supply-chain management, to inventory control, to interactions with customers and advanced payment solutions.

Store of the Future will take the guise of a modern retail store. Once inside, visitors will be guided through the different functions of the technology on show and see first hand how new innovations can improve customer experience and overall efficiency.

Store of the Future will also enable retailers to visualise how modern technology will look and feel to the consumer using their store, and how they can accommodate technology into their current store formats.

Retail Solutions takes place at the NEC from the 5th 7th June 2007. Now in its 27th year, the event is the perfect place for retailers to meet leading suppliers, view and try out new products, hear about new concepts and critically, network with industry colleagues.  Retail Solutions is the largest event of its kind in Europe and is firmly established as the retail industrys principal exhibition, incorporating all of the latest ground-breaking technologies, interactive features, issue-led seminars, high profile speakers and cutting edge content.

More than 250 leading solution providers will be exhibiting products and services available to the retail industry, including the very latest in EPOS systems, RFID, business intelligence software, fraud and security systems, wireless technology, workforce management, digital merchandising and mobile payment solutions, as well as other state-of-the-art solutions, many of which will have their first viewing in the UK.

Over 65% of exhibition space has been sold. Exhibitors include: Aldata, Brother, BT Expedite, Fujitsu, IBM, Sony, The Logic Group, NCR, K3 (who are also the platinum sponsor) and Wincor Nixdorf.

Retail Solutions offers an extensive, free seminar programme, this year sponsored by Mitel and featuring case studies and Q&A sessions from retailers and vendors with first hand experience. The seminars will tackle the key issues facing retailers today including RFID, gift cards, wireless communications, loss prevention, electronic shelf labelling, mobile computing, self check out and CRM.  Speakers will include David Llamas, IT Director, Harrods who will talk about the Challenges of IT and Future of IT in Retail, Ivan Brooks, VP and CIO of McDonalds who will be discussing Implementing Customer Services through Technology and Deloittes will be giving a presentation on Implementing PCI DSS for an online retailer which is also highly topical.

The Retail Solutions seminars are always popular and well attended by the industry, and in past years have proved one of the largest visitor draws.

The European Retail Solutions Awards will take place on the evening of the Wednesday 6th June in the neighbouring Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel. In 2006 the awards were attended by more than 750 retail IT executives and vendors from the retail, leisure and food services from across Europe. The awards celebrate retailers and suppliers successful use of technology that has driven their businesses forward and recognises some of Europes most progressive companies. There are 13 categories to be awarded including the European Retail Solution of the year award and Best IT Retail Professional Award. The awards shortlist will be announced at the end of April.
