Leading international retailer, Tesco has selected IT and business services company, Enabler Wipro, as its integration partner to build centralised purchasing systems for its growing business in central Europe.

The new system, based on Oracle Retail, will enable Tesco to buy non-food items in bulk though a centralised purchasing authority that will allow purchase order generation, purchasing and supply chain decisions to be centrally controlled.

Chris Holmes IT & Logistics Director for clothing central Europe, Tesco said, Non-food is of growing importance to Tesco and we need systems that will enable us to offer best prices and service to our customers worldwide.

Enabler Wipro will be accountable for the functional, technical design and integration testing of the Oracle Retail applications along with the interface design received and sent by ORMS. Tesco will lead the overall programme and also be accountable for leading the business process and change management work streams.

Mike Davies, Head of UK Enabler Wipro, said, Tesco trusts us to manage projects and build systems that sit at the heart of their business. The new purchasing systems for Central Europe are certain to give them competitive advantage.

Enabler Wipro was strongly recommended for the project as an existing, key supplier to Tesco in areas that have included Tesco in a Box, promotions management, year end convergence and stock reconciliation.
