SYSPRO ERP Provides Cost Savings and Supply Chain Benefits for Retail Supplier, Meller Designs

Savings on human resource, improved stock visibility and the ability to easily reconcile sales and delivery information on thousands of product lines are just some of the major benefits in store for  ladies and men's accessories supplier, Meller Designs Ltd.

The London-based accessories specialist, which designs and supplies clothing gift sets and fashion jewellery to the likes of Marks and Spencer, Next, and Dunnes, has invested in a SYSPRO 6.0 distribution and financial system  from McGuffie Brunton.

Meller Designs selected SYSPRO 6.0 to meet its stringent global supply chain requirements. Under the guidance of specialist project management company, Morgan Technology Consulting, they went fully live with a 12 user licence of the system in April 2006. The selection process followed an evaluation of five competitive ERP systems, including IFS, SSA Global, Navision and SAP.

Already Meller Designs is making full use of SYSPRO's strong functionality in the areas of sales, manufacturing, accounts and distribution which is enabling the retail orientated company to respond quickly to seasonal fluctuations and new market trends for its customers.

Established over 50 years ago, Meller Designs personnel travel the globe searching for the next ladies and men's accessory innovation and bringing it quickly to market. The company designs its own products and sources manufacture through international partners.

According to Gary Montagu of McGuffie Brunton, "With volume demands from customers for stringent delivery timescales, and to the right  specification, the customer wanted a system that was flexible and dynamic enough to  manage and control a fast moving global supply chain involving a variety of products."

Project Manager Ian Morgan commented: "Already, the business is seeing considerable benefits. The ease of integration of Syspro with MS Office products has allowed us to enhance the standard Syspro software to provide tighter control of the sales ledger. The enhancements allow the automatic posting of cash for hundreds of lines of payments a week in just a few
 moments, a process that consumed a significant amount of time for 2 people previously. In addition, the customer facing team in London are now able  to use their business system as a tool, instead of a log. All of these  benefits allow increased focus on more value-added and customer focussed tasks, improving the efficiency of the business"
