Datalogic has extended its comprehensive retail product range with the introduction of the new Diamond presentation scanner the smallest in its category and suitable for counters with limited space availability.

The unit offers a cost-effective solution for hands-free applications that require omni-directional scanning.

With its small footprint, reading accuracy, scan speed and first pass read rate, the Diamond is the ideal solution for check-out activities in the retail market, as well as front-desk operations in post offices and courier companies.

Datalogic has completely renewed the optics and electronics in the new Diamond to provide an improved reading performance of 1200 scans per second.   The unit is also equipped with the Datalogic code reconstruction system enabling it to read bar codes in various positions, as well as poorly printed or damaged codes. It can read standard linear bar codes in addition to RSS, and can be upgraded in the field to keep it up to date with new functions or bar codes, protecting the customers investment.

The optics in the Diamond are protected from external environmental agents and built-in shock absorbers protect the scan module and motor assembly from shocks and dust, making it very durable.

Like all other new hand held readers from Datalogic, the new Diamond presentation scanner is a multi-interfaced product coming with a USB interface as standard, in addition to RS232, Wedge and Wand. In addition, the Diamond has a stand-by mode and wake-up feature, single-line scan pattern option, beeper for good read confirmation, and a complete set of stands for versatility in installation.  Following the latest colour trends in the retail sector, the unit is dark grey.

The launch of the Diamond enables Datalogic to have a full portfolio of products for the retail sector that includes readers with different technologies and characteristics enabling it to provide the right solution for any customer needs.
