NetDespatch has launched an open-industry service for updating Proofs of Delivery (POD) via the web.
It allows any delivery driver to use the web to update a POD for any courier or carrier utilising the NetDespatch Velocity web services, without having to login. The development is significant as it allows independent owner-drivers, agents and transport contractors to update PODs electronically when making deliveries on behalf of couriers or express parcel carriers.
To use the 'QuickPOD' service, the courier simply needs a specific web address for the courier or carrier, the consignment number and delivery postcode; allowing a data match with NetDespatch's central parcel tracking systems. The service requires no special equipment or software, just a web-enabled PC or portable computer.
QuickPOD also offers a signature capture option when used with Cognito-enabled wireless PDAs. This application is part of the Company's 'Velocity Unwired ' suite of web-services being launched at the UK Express Delivery, NEC Hilton Metropole, 3-4 July 2006.
NetDespatch provides a wide range of e-commerce applications for transport companies and their customers. NetDespatch services are designed to be incorporated seamlessly into existing websites so companies can offer own-brand web booking, pre-labelling, systems integration and parcel tracking services. As well as replacing traditional PC implant systems, NetDespatch makes it cost-effective for any customer irrespective of daily volumes, to book online whether through systems integration, using the simple web forms, or even over GPRS using a hand-held device.
