Global provider of passenger, ramp and cargo handling services, Menzies Aviation deals with minute-by-minute, mission critical operations every day to satisfy customer expectations.
Data collection equipment is imperative to Menzies success. All air freight including packages and personal effects, such as luggage, must be scanned to ensure accuracy in delivering the right package to the right location on time. However, following the incumbent data capture suppliers consistent failure in meeting agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), combined with poor levels of service - and then a sudden 90 days termination notice, Menzies found itself in an urgent situation.
Menzies has a large install base of legacy Symbol data collection equipment and keeping these units in working order is critical to business operations, explains Jamie Coote, Business Systems Manager. Wed been having reliability issues with our incumbent supplier but hadnt expected them to terminate the contract. We now had to find a supplier who could hold additional buffer stock, provide next day swap-out service and offer consistency and reliability on returns and repairs. Menzies contacted Ryzex, a leading provider of affordable and reliable new and refurbished automated data collection (ADC) solutions.
Ryzexs provision of maintenance support for legacy barcode equipment is part of a wider package of FullUse lifecycle solutions designed to put its customers first. Ryzexs FullUse offering covers all aspects of barcode equipment, including repair, refurbishment, rentals, installation, staging, configuration, consultation and support. Having already worked with Menzies for six months on a previous refurbished unit sale, Ryzex quickly identified Menzies pain points and proposed the necessary actions to rectify the situation.
Based upon Menzies equipment usage and the high risks associated with equipment down-time, Ryzex proposed an Advanced Emergency Exchange option with a guaranteed next day swap out. To cover this eventuality, Ryzex would hold buffer stock at its warehouse facility in Chippenham, UK. Lastly, photographic evidence of physical damage from each shipping location, commonly referred to as sheds within Menzies, would be provided to its central depot, allowing Jamie Coote to accurately control and monitor budget spend on its repair activities.
I now know how much to budget for, commented Jamie. Before it was hard to be sure where the physical damage occurred, but now Ryzex can provide me with photographic evidence of physical damage from each shed making the process of attributing damage to each precise location crystal clear.
The Ryzex maintenance agreement has been in place for more than 16 months and Menzies has found the service quality unfaltering. The quality of the repairs has been consistently high and the availability of buffer stock has kept the sheds happy. Furthermore, information is more accurate, says Jamie.
Ryzex has proven to be a very flexible and reliable partner in this project. They exceeded the objectives required and we have been delighted with the service we have received, Jamie concluded.
