Masternaut 1million contract to track Homebuy's 850 vehicles

Homebuy, the fast-growing retailer of electricals and furniture direct to people's homes, is equipping its entire fleet with Masternaut.  Over 850 sales, service and delivery vehicles are being fitted with the latest satellite location and navigation technology, providing Homebuy with live tracking from any web-connected PC.

Homebuy has become a big hit since launch in 1995 and has already attracted 140,000 customers.  The company enables people to buy goods that for their homes by easy coin meter payment.  Homebuy deliver direct to homes everything from leading brand TV's, DVD recorders to washing machines and sofas.

In a contract worth over 1 million, Masternaut is providing Homebuy added security, greater control over fleet operations, boosting efficiency and service.  In-vehicle navigation is proving to be especially popular with sales and service staff, allowing easy in-vehicle visual and voice guidance to customer homes.  Back at the office, managers can instantly allocate the nearest resource to a call out and plan routes based on actual routes driven data.

"Masternaut provides benefits across the entire business and that is why every vehicle is being equipped; sales, service, cash collection and even managers. By simply logging onto the web we immediately have a complete picture of everything going on, 24 hours a day. It is a great management tool." Says Mark Fogarty, Homebuy's Group Fleet Manager.

As well as satellite tracking, mobile communication and in-vehicle PDA navigation, Masternaut has also developed job despatch and collections management systems so that engineers and cash collectors are equipped with mobile data systems that eliminate paperwork.  Engineers receive jobs and report completions using on-screen PDA forms and cash collection staff have a portable receipt printer linked wirelessly by Bluetooth to the PDA.

"Masternaut provides added security for staff on the road and it has cut insurance premiums. Our engineers meanwhile can work at optimum efficiency and are not burdened with paperwork or long unnecessary journeys.   It also helps sales staff better plan their time, routes and ensures they avoid traffic jams and never get lost; a real help to new sales people as they are guided around their routes.  An added benefit to management is that we always know who is where and in which vehicle". Comments Mark Fogarty.
