McPhillips cuts costs with Trackit Fleet from BT

Local contractors overhauls IT systems with fleet management solution from BT

In an order valued at 80k, BT redcare Group company Transcomm UK Limited announced that Civil Engineering Contractor McPhillips is implementing its Trackit Fleet solution to all of its vehicle force to reduce operating costs, increase levels of asset security and provide customers with a more streamlined and efficient service.

Using historical and real-time location data, Trackit Fleet will allow managers at McPhillips to see where employees on its numerous civil engineering projects are. This will provide quicker, more accurate job costing information, as well as reduce unauthorised use of vehicles and facilitating compliance with the EU working time directive and duty of care legislation. The solution will also provide McPhillips with comprehensive real-time asset information, providing enhanced security, in order to dispatch conveniently located fitters to a breakdown, so as to get vehicles and plant back into service quickly.

Gerald Clift, Commercial Director at McPhillips, said: "The civil engineering industry is challenged with maximising asset effectiveness and decreasing costs. We needed a single, unified system to help us manage our 60-strong fleet so we could cut unnecessary operating costs and provide a more streamlined service to our clients across the North and West Midlands. We considered other fleet management products, but they did not offer the service we were seeking. BT redcare provided a proactive service and the best technology, as well as the project management capabilities in terms of adapting the system to meet our requirements. The flexibility of Trackit also means that we can easily add extra functionality such as new vehicle diagnostics technology, differentiating us from our competitors quickly and effectively. There is no one in the fleet management market that offers us that level of service or flexibility."

Chet Patel, Chief Executive of BT redcare Group, said: "The Trackit fleet management solution complements the redcare portfolio of remote monitoring services that support our clients' businesses by helping them reduce costs and protect their assets. We look forward to working together with McPhillips to deliver those benefits."
