IBS (UK) Ltd has announced that it has won the contract to provide Southern Syringe Services with the IBS Enterprise software solution.

The decision to implement IBS Enterprise follows a period of extended growth by Southern Syringe, which includes the acquisition of Hospital Management and Supplies Limited, which drove the need for a more powerful and advanced IT solution.

Southern Syringe Services (SSS), based in Enfield, is one of the UKs leading distributors of medical and surgical products, supplying both NHS hospital and non-NHS hospital customers, such as nursing homes and sub-distributors. The company has a turnover of 150million, employs around 700 people and has eight warehouses based throughout the UK regularly handling around 50,000 order lines per month.

Paul Denman, Finance Project Manager for Southern Syringe Services, comments, Previously, we had been using a self-developed system to handle our financial and supply chain management requirements. However, with the addition of the HM&S business, we found this system became too hard to maintain and it couldnt cope with the increased throughput and complexity of the merged organisation. We carried out an extensive search of the financial and supply chain software markets and were particularly impressed with IBS ability to demonstrate its comprehensive knowledge of our industry and its understanding of our specific requirements. After visiting some reference sites, we decided that IBS had the people, products and industry experience to deliver the solution we needed today and for the future.

Simon Shorthose, Managing Director of IBS UK, comments, The high volume wholesale distribution of healthcare and medical products is an area in which IBS has proven many times that it is a market leader. We have delivered unrivalled solutions to similar companies all over the world and have the product functionality and expertise to ensure each deployment meets the very specific demands of this industry. Southern Syringe Services has selected IBS based on our ability to demonstrate this vertical market expertise and proven implementation methodology.
