Spyker Cars, the Dutch manufacturer of high quality sports vehicles, has awarded Exel's contract logistics business, now known as DHL Exel Supply Chain, a prestigious contract to undertake the global export of its high-value sports cars by air- and seafreight. The company will provide Spyker with multiple core services including inbound and outbound logistics and management of its daily integrator shipments.

Sibrand J. van der Veen of DHL Exel Supply Chain, said, "We are extremely pleased to be awarded this contract to handle the transportation of Spyker's exhibition cars. The deal cements DHL Exel Supply Chain's position as the leading provider of supply chain management in the automotive sector and specifically in the field of motor sports.

Gerwin van den Os of Spyker, said, "We were incurring too much damage to our vehicles during transit and were very keen to find a partner who was able to reduce the risk by providing a special service on the pre-building of the cars. We considered a number of options to achieve efficient, high-quality logistics and Exel, now DHL Exel Supply Chain, was able to demonstrate significant technical capability and expertise to provide the most cost-effective solution."

Van den Os added, "I am confident that we have chosen the right partner in DHL Exel Supply Chain to help us deliver our promises."

DHL Exel Supply Chain is the combined contract logistics business of DHL and Exel. It formerly operated under the brand name DHL Solutions. DHL's parent company, Deutsche Post World Net, acquired Exel in 2005 to create the world's leading logistics provider.
