GEN2 RFID tags, used in the supply chain, can now be printed and encoded in house, on demand, with the updated SATO CL400e series thermal label printers.
The CL408e (8dots/mm) and CL412e (12dots/mm) barcode printers offer the latest in UHF RFID multi-protocol technology, supporting Class 1 and Class 0+ as well as ISO 18000 standards, now widely adopted throughout Europe. SATO's RFID module also supports worldwide frequency bands for use around the globe.
The tabletop CL400e Series is a tried and tested label printer with a successful track record across industry. The current model is faster and more rugged than ever, but still at the same cost-effective price. With the RFID module added, the CL400e printers provide high-speed, high performance label throughput so that businesses can print and encode their own Gen2 RFID products in one simple step.
Stephen Hull is RFID Product Manager at SATO America, where the marriage of machine and RFID module was first developed and tested. SATO UK introduced the industry's first complete multi-protocol, EPC (Electronic product Code)-compliant RFID labelling system. The company also supports the Uniform Code Council's (UCC) EPC initiatives and is a Gold Partner in European-based retail giant METRO's RFID initiative, which was launched in November 2004.
