The Datalogic Jet vehicle cradle is a now available to mount the Datalogic Jet PDA on vehicles for protection from vibrations and to supply power.

Bologna, 8th November 2005. Datalogic has improved the functionality of the Datalogic Jet PDA with the introduction of the vehicle cradle which optimises mobile applications by enabling better use of existing features and implementing additional features for field force automation.

The Datalogic Jet vehicle cradle is a lightweight, compact and secure holder for easy insertion and removal of the PDA, leaving the keypad easily accessible. It protects the mobile computer from vibrations and a LED on the front panel indicates when the power supply is enabled.

The vehicle cradle is equipped with an industrial connector for power from 10V to 32V. It also has a RS232 connector to receive and transmit data. The 9 pins make it possible to connect and supply power to peripheral devices such as a bar code scanner or weighing scales so that the Datalogic Jet PDA can be used as a small vehicle mounted terminal. Special software manages incoming data via the RS232 connection, so that devices connected to the serial port can be used as internal scan engines.

A jack on the front of the cradle is provided for the use of a headset so that the Datalogic Jet PDA with GSM/GPRS technology installed can be used as a mobile phone. Furthermore, the single cradle vehicle loudspeaker can manage the audio without a wired connection so that with an added speaker and microphone, local communication is possible in hands-free configuration.

A cable to connect the cradle directly to the battery of the vehicle is already supplied in the package. However, the Datalogic Jet vehicle cradle is also provided with an accessory to connect and supply power to the cradle from the socket for a lighter in a vehicle.
