Exel, the global leader in supply chain management, has won a contract with Helix Lighting Ltd (Helix), a leading UK lighting manufacturer, to manage the company's international supply chain from Asia to the UK.

Helix has been a valued customer of Exel's International Supply Chain Group (ISCG) over the last twelve months. During this time Exel has been able to build on the successful partnership and introduce new initiatives to Helix, helping the company achieve their global supply chain goals.

The contract sees Exel's ISCG managing Helix's vendor base in Asia including purchase order management, container planning and optimisation, seafreight and customs brokerage.

Upon arrival in the UK port at Felixstowe, Exel's container delivery management team manage the onward transport of Helix's products to Helix's distribution centre (DC) in Wellingborough, UK. All operations are controlled via an Exel Control Tower in Lutterworth, UK, which liaises daily with Helix, providing monthly key performance indicators (KPIs).

Helix selected Exel as its partner to develop its business strategy due to its established reputation. "In today's challenging economic environment we are continually expected to deliver improvements within a fast moving industry. We are pleased to have partnered with Exel. The Company understands our needs and has provided a logistics solution that meets our expectations - consistently delivering high standards. The Exel team is playing an invaluable role in our success," said Andrew Morton, Managing Director, Helix Lighting

John Howlett, Development Director, International Supply Chain Group, Exel, commented, "Exel is delighted to have been awarded this exciting opportunity that will benefit from our global infrastructure and relationships with many of Helix's customers. Exel with its vast retail experience can constantly deliver value and new initiatives to Helix Lighting."
