RedPrairie Corporation, a global leader in supply chain technology solutions that enable business process transformation, announced today that DSC Logistics selected its DLx Labour Workforce Performance Management (WPM) solution to improve productivity and customer service throughout their distribution network. DSC Logistics, a leading supply chain management company with a nationwide network, plans to implement the RedPrairie solution at all of its Logistics Centres.

DSC Logistics, who provides logistics solutions and services to many well-known companies including Kelloggs, Unilever, Yamaha, Georgia-Pacific and Kimberly-Clark, chose RedPrairie DLx Labour to improve workforce efficiency by increasing direct labour performance and reducing non-productive time.

We will continue to provide our customers the best workforce, facilities and technology to manage the distribution of their products efficiently. The RedPrairie solution will help us make gains in productivity that will improve our cost structure for our customers, said Ken Heller, vice president, new operations development for DSC Logistics.

Heller continued, The third party logistics marketplace is highly competitive with significant cost pressure. Efficiency is already high, so its difficult to make dramatic improvements without investing in new technology. We chose RedPrairie because their labour management package is more robust than their competitors, and more importantly, they best understand the challenges of the third party logistics marketplace.

RedPrairie DLx Labour will help DSC Logistics improve labour productivity by tracking the efficiency of individual tasks and driving operational improvement. Instead of simply measuring efficiency, RedPrairie is able to tell how a task should be completed to maximise productivity. Discrete standards are then applied, which quantify individual moves at a finite level to determine actual job standards.

We are currently celebrating DSCs 45th anniversary, says Jon Fieldman, vice president enterprise integration and chief information officer, and this is another great example of how DSC continues to invest in the future. We continuously seek to make smarter, faster decisions to serve our customers. The labour management initiative is totally in keeping with our Mission: To achieve customer business goals by managing change and information in the supply chain. Our due diligence team, which included representatives from engineering, process, HR, IT and operations, did a great job and agreed that RedPrairie was our best choice. We expect a significant increase in labour force productivity from the RedPrairie solution across our network, says Fieldman.

RedPrairie Company Leader John Jazwiec comments, DSC Logistics has won awards for the quality and service of their distribution centres. The fact that a company with such a well-run distribution network would choose RedPrairie to gain additional efficiency is a big compliment to us. We are happy to be chosen to partner with them.
