Following a comprehensive systems review, Musgrave Group, Irelands largest food and grocery distributor, has chosen to re-commit to its existing solution from supply chain specialist Business Computer Projects (BCP) for its Musgrave Wholesale Services Division (MWS).

MWS is Irelands premier food wholesale company, operating a delivered retail business, a delivered foodservice business and nine cash and carry operations throughout Ireland. The 18 month review, part of a company wide strategic assessment, covered all aspects of the MWS business, with systems from a number of solution providers being evaluated alongside BCPs Accord solution. The review concluded that the wholesale business was strategically different to other group activities and that the IT strategy for the group and division should reflect this by selecting a specialist solution.

Ultimately, Musgrave chose BCP from a short list of 3 leading suppliers, recognising the breadth of the Accord solution, its close match to their future requirements and BCPs clear understanding of the Musgrave business.

The review highlighted a number of areas for strategic development of the product between MWS and BCP and BCP will now work closely with MWS to help them achieve the goals laid out in the review. Specific objectives include the implementation of additional functionality and new technologies to help MWS successfully manage and grow their business throughout Ireland over the next few years.

David McGee, Head of IT at MWS, sums up: This review, and the consequent re-commitment to the BCP platform, underlines how closely BCP have come to understand our business and how closely aligned the core of the package is to our requirements.
