Consortium launches comprehensive UHF supply chain solutions

Intellident announce the launch of a range of high performance UHF RFID products for the supply chain, developed within a consortium of leading RFID technology vendors, including Philips Semiconductors, UPM Rafsec and Feig. The Consortium was led by Intellident, in partnership with rfiq solutions.

Formed in 2004, the consortium was charged with the design, development, test and characterisation of high performance RFID products for retail and supply chain applications. The unrivalled combination of UHF product and technology expertise within the consortium provided specialist knowledge of application software, RFID silicon, label development and manufacture, reader and antenna electronics, and system design and installation. This broad and disparate range of skills and expertise has supported the design and development of an exciting new range of products offering superior performance at UHF, and optimised for deployment within Europe.

The new UHF product range includes a high performance UHF portal or gateway, which has been designed to read large populations of labels attached to plastic crates containing food, liquids and metal all of which offer specific challenges at UHF. Extensive characterisation and testing has been performed in a distribution centre to simulate both typical, and worst case, operational conditions.

Features of the new UHF portal include:

Developed and optimised for use within demanding supply chain applications;
Reliably reads many hundreds of labels;
Supports a wide range of RFID label protocols;
Seamless upgrade to c1g2;
Extensively characterised;
Operates within ETSI EN 302-208 requirements;
Vision software platform.

With over 100 RFID installations across Europe, involving the deployment of almost 10 million RFID labels, the consortium has unrivalled experience in designing, developing, installing and maintaining reliable RFID systems in challenging environments.

Intellident will be hosting a number of hands-on events where these new UHF products can be experienced in a real-world distribution centre.
